Abstract：In this talk, I will first review  the basic bifurcation phenomena and mathematical techniques in the models of disease transmissions. Then I will talk our recent studies on the dynamical behaviors of pathogen infections, which reveal the new mechanism of bifurcations (backward bifurcations and subharmonic bifurcations) during epidemic transmissions and HIV  infections.
