Abstract:The incompressible Euler equation is one of the fundamental equations in fluid dynamics. Whether solutions remain regular globally in time is a long-standing open problem for the Euler equation in three-dimension. In this talk, I will review recent works on singularity formations for several simplified systems in fluid dynamics, and discuss a possible scenario of the small scale singularity formation for the 3D Euler equations.
